Applications and recommendations are due for CURRENT MEMBERS by this Friday, April 10th.

See Mrs. Weber or Mrs. Campisi with any questions.

Attention all returning NJHS members!!!!  Per Mr. Prickett’s discussion at our most recent meeting, the new GPA requirement for next year will be 3.50.  You will need to keep track of your GPA and be sure you are able to end the THIRD TRIMESTER with this new GPA in order to be considered a member in good standing next year.  Warning letters will be sent out after the trimester 2 reports go home if you are below a 3.5. This will give you the opportunity to bring it up before the end of the school year.  In addition, you will need to secure 3 new recommendations.  Please listen for announcements regarding where and when to pick up these forms after Spring Break!

The following things were covered during today’s meeting:

We will now be recognizing NJHS “Achievements of the Month” during the spirit assembly that is held at the end of each month.  “Achievement of the Month” we will be awarded to the three students who have accumulated the highest amount of NJHS hours for that month. If you feel that you have volunteered a lot hours and would be a good candidate for this, please bring your NJHS SIGNED LOG to the LMC and drop it in the NJHS LOG drop box. ***YOU MUST TURN IN YOUR LOG FOR THIS MONTH BY FRIDAY, JANUARY 30TH! (THAT’S THIS FRIDAY!!!)*** We will be figuring out the top three students with the most hours and then returning the logs to the LMC by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND! Please pick your logs up ASAP so you can continue to accumulate hours!

At the end of this school year we will have accumulated a great amount of money from concessions, gate keeping, and other service activities. With the money that we have raised, we would like to use it to give back to our school or the community. We have heard several suggestions as to what we can do with this money. One example is putting the money we have raised toward buying a new rubber track for our school.  If you have some good ideas that you would like to share please go to the LMC and find the dropbox that is for our fundraising and drop your ideas in! We would love to hear your ideas as we are trying to work towards something awesome that we would like to donate for our school or community. Please remember that you are not  just working at gate keeping because it is mandatory,  you are working it to help out our school as well as benefit our community! So please put your ideas in the drop box!

We would like to try to fundraise to raise more money for NJHS.  Our ultimate goal is to purchase something that would give back to our school or the community. Some great fundraising ideas that have been shared include possibly raising funds at restaurants such as  Culvers, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Chipotle. If you have a suggestion of a great place that would possibly host a fundraiser,  please go to the drop box in the LMC and drop in your suggestion.  We can’t wait to hear your ideas!

WE HAVE TWO DOP BOXES, ONE FOR LOGS AND ONE FOR FUNDRAISERS. PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT THE APPROPRIATE ITEMS IN THE CORRECT BOX. THANK YOU!

***REMINDERS!***

Please check Volunteer Spot for service opportunities and extra ways to earn hours! A big hit that everyone usually likes are the elementary school winter carnivals. They are currently posted on volunteer spot.  So go sign up now!

IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID $10 FOR YOUR NJHS T-SHIRT YOU MUST BRING MRS. WEBER $10 BY FRIDAY, JANUAR 30TH! (THAT IS THIS FRIDAY!!) IF YOU DON’T BRING IT TO HER BY FRIDAY, YOU WILL HAVE TO DONATE ONE HOUR OF FREE IN-SCHOOL SERVICE WORK WHICH WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS YOUR ACCUMULATION OF NJHS HOURS!

Gate keeping is now FULL for the rest of the year! If you were in every sport or did not get the chance to do gatekeeping, you can make up the hours by peer tutoring extra rounds. If you are someone who has signed up multiple times for gatekeeping, please take your name off of the list so someone else can have that spot.

The following topics were covered during the NJHS meeting that was held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014:

* NJHS t-shirts were distributed

*Please try to take pictures of activities you are involved in for NJHS volunteer hours (submit to Julianne Amato)

Good job everyone. There will be a mandatory officer meeting after school Thursday November 6 to set the agenda for the November meeting. Again, this is officer only!!

A reminder that purchase of an NJHS club t-shirt is mandatory.  In an effort to look uniform when volunteering both in and out of school, we ask that each member purchase an NJHS t-shirt.  The cost of the shirt is $10.00 and is due to Mrs. Weber in the LMC by Friday 10/17! Stop by the LMC to give Mrs. Weber your shirt size if you were unable to attend the meeting on 10/7/14.

To NJHS- not to Bernotas. :)  I’ve been at Bernotas for a long time.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that you can contact either Mrs. Campisi or me (Mrs. Weber in the LMC) for all things NJHS.  We will be co-leaders.

Looking forward to a great year!
