There has been some confusion concerning last year’s active members (7th grade members who are now 8th graders).  As long as you ended the year with the required number of service hours (25) and met the new GPA requirement (3.5), you are a member in good standing! New, incoming members that went through the application process, received a letter of acceptance and attended the induction ceremony.  Please see me if you are not sure if you are still a member.

Looking to start accruing NJHS service hours for this school year?  We have two opportunities fast approaching;

 

Sixth grade orientation –  We need NJHS members to help with sixth grade orientations this Thursday 8/13, as well as next Wednesday 8/19.  Both begin at 6:00 p.m.  If you are available to help, please call the front office or Mr. Meyer for details.  We ask that you arrive at 5:45  and wear either your NJHS club shirt or Bernotas spirit wear or colors.
Material counting, sorting and delivery – Thursday 8/20, we also need help counting, sorting and delivering materials to classrooms.  Please arrive at 10:00 a.m. and plan to stay until noon.  Call the front office at 815-788-5600 for details.

At the bottom of the NJHS home page, there is a link to print a service log.  Please do so and be sure to bring it with you and have and administrator sign off on your hours.

Attention all returning NJHS members!!!!  Per Mr. Prickett’s discussion at our most recent meeting, the new GPA requirement for next year will be 3.50.  You will need to keep track of your GPA and be sure you are able to end the THIRD TRIMESTER with this new GPA in order to be considered a member in good standing next year.  Warning letters will be sent out after the trimester 2 reports go home if you are below a 3.5. This will give you the opportunity to bring it up before the end of the school year.  In addition, you will need to secure 3 new recommendations.  Please listen for announcements regarding where and when to pick up these forms after Spring Break!

NEW SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES!

Parent Night Help:

Help is needed Thursday September 3 for our annual parent night.  You will be working the front office and assisting parents in finding classrooms etc.  Please report to the front office by 6:10 for instructions.  Parent night runs from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  If you volunteer, please wear your club shirt or Bernotas spirit wear and be sure to have an administrator sign your service log.

Volleyball Concessions:

Volleyball concessions and gate keeping opportunities will be posted soon via volunteerspot.com.  Please click the “Upcoming Service Opportunities” tab and follow the instructions to sign up for a spot!

Please remember to record your hours on the service log (see link and print).  We collect these twice a year to make sure members are staying on track with their service hours.
